It’s summer time and the arts front is not as lively as usual. Let’s start with music. While the other music ensembles go on vacation, for the OLMOS Ensemble summer is the active season.
Four concerts are scheduled: Baroque Sonatas (Aug. 10); American Wind Quintets (Aug. 17);
A Trio of Trios (Aug. 24) and Anton Nel Returns (Aug. 31). Returning guest artists and “new friends” will join the ensemble’s core musicians in performing chamber music masterpieces spanning centuries, from J.S. Bach to living composers. The core ensemble consists of
violinist Eric Gratz; flutist Mark Teplitsky; clarinetist Illya Shterenberg and bassoonist Jeff Garza.

Renaissance with the Stars includes a dancing competition where local celebrities from the San Antonio area are matched with professional dance partners. They’ll perform, on the stage of the Tobin Center, and both a panel of judges and the audience will determine the winners. A variety of musical and dance entertainers will appear throughout the show. The San Antonio Museum of Art -SAMA- has announced that it has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition awarded to the nation’s museums. Of the nation’s estimated 33,000 museums, roughly 1,100 are currently AAM accredited. Nice to know!
The San Antonio Art League + Museum has announced that fiber artist Susie Monday has been named the 2025 Artist of the Year. The award celebrates excellence across all artistic disciplines and this year shines a much-deserved spotlight on the expressive power of art. The San Antonio Museum of Art -SAMA- has announced that it has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition awarded to the nation’s museums. Of the nation’s estimated 33,000 museums, roughly 1,100 are currently AAM accredited. Nice to know!
The San Antonio Art League + Museum has announced that fiber artist Susie Monday has been named the 2025 Artist of the Year. The award celebrates excellence across all artistic disciplines and this year shines a much-deserved spotlight on the expressive power of art. CNTR/ City is calling San Antonio professionals to participate in “Cocktails and Conversation” at the Tobin Center on August 20th to welcome Dr. Steve Nivin, of St. Maty’s University to discuss the economic impact of the arts in San Antonio, and share emerging trends shaping the creative industry. It’s summer time and the arts front is not as lively as usual. Let’s start with music. While the other music ensembles go on vacation, for the OLMOS Ensemble summer is the active season.
Four concerts are scheduled: Baroque Sonatas (Aug. 10); American Wind Quintets (Aug. 17);
A Trio of Trios (Aug. 24) and Anton Nel Returns (Aug. 31). Returning guest artists and “new friends” will join the ensemble’s core musicians in performing chamber music masterpieces spanning centuries, from J.S. Bach to living composers. The core ensemble consists of
violinist Eric Gratz; flutist Mark Teplitsky; clarinetist Illya Shterenberg and bassoonist Jeff Garza.

Renaissance with the Stars includes a dancing competition where local celebrities from the San Antonio area are matched with professional dance partners. They’ll perform, on the stage of the Tobin Center, and both a panel of judges and the audience will determine the winners. A variety of musical and dance entertainers will appear throughout the show.
