The San Antonio Chamber Music Society is presenting the acclaimed Balourdet Quartet that will be joined by well-known flutist, Adam W. Sadberry for a concert that highlights the expressive possibilities of strings and flute in dialogue. Known for major competition wins – including the Concert Artists Guild Grand Prize – the Balourdet brings precision, warmth and dynamic range. The quartet is currently the first ever Quartet in Residence of the Seattle Chamber Music Society. The Cactus Pear Music Festival invites music lovers to an intimate evening illuminated by thousands of candles in the historic Maverick Carter House. Virtuoso Stas Venglevsky and pianist Jeffrey Sykes will perform, drawing on Eastern European folk melodies. (Jan. 31 at 7 p.m.;

On the visual arts front:

The San Antonio Art League and Museum – SAAL+M – 95th Annual Juried Exhibition is coming up. The organization has issued a call for entry to all Texas resident artists, including military personnel stationed in Texas, for works to be considered for the exhibition that will open March 30, 2026. Founded in 1912, SAAL+M is the oldest continuously operating arts organization in San Antonio. Up to $10,000 in monetary awards will be available. Artists working in all media are encouraged to enter their work. Entry fees are $50 for nonmembers; $35 for members.

Deep in the Heart of Texas, is an exclusive evening with “The Gems of the SAAL+M Collection.

In conjunction with the exhibition “New African Masquerades,” The San Antonio Museum of Art will present a screening of “Visages de Masques,” a documentary directed by Herve Youmbi.
(Q and A with the artist is on Feb. 6, 6 p.m.; free for members or with museum admission.)

Ruiz-Healy Art, is “pleased to present a selection of museum exhibitions featuring gallery artists, on view during the winter months and beyond, including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Carter Museum of American Art and several others.
In the San Antonio gallery, you’ll be soon able to preview the upcoming exhibition: “Alejandro Diaz: Rooms and Places.” (Jan. 21 to Feb. 28) opening reception is on Jan 21, 6-8 p.m. A conversation with the artist with Jimmy LeFlore will be held Jan. 24, 1-3 p.m. This exhibit marks the artist’s fourth solo exhibition with Ruiz-Healy Art. “Rooms and Places” is the artist’s return to painting.

Bihl Haus Arts Presents “Fourth Nature: An Urban Garden,” opening Feb. 7; an opening reception is planned for the day. The exhibition will be on view through February 28; A panel discussion is scheduled for 2 p.m. that day. The gallery is at 2803 Fredericksburg Road. 210-339-8982.

ARTPACE San Antonio has announced the Spring 2026 Internatio  nal Artists-in-Residence selected by guest curator, Dr. Aleesa Pitchamarn Alexander. They will be in residence from Jan 26 to March 22, 2026. The artists are Violette Bule (Houston); Mel Chin (Burnsville, N. Carolina) and Viet Le (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam)

Thorns & Living Systems: features the art of Jayne Lawrence and Leigh Anne Lester who created two influential galleries in San Antonio a few years ago: CactusBRA and CactusBARN.
