Here’s a group we don’t hear that much about: The Olmos Ensemble, created byfour talented and experienced musicians: Eric Gratz (violin), Matthew Cohen (viola), Julian Schwartz (cello) and Ilya
Shterenberg (clarinet). They will perform two concerts in the upcoming days:

“Music From St.Mark’s Presents Olmos Ensemble” on March 9, and “Olmos Ensemble presents Viennese Masters,” on March 10. The first concert will feature music by Classical and Baroque eras composers, including Bach, Haydn and Mozart. A concert that a lot of music lovers are looking forward to is Agarita + Pablo Sainz- Villegas from Spain.

Ruby Alexander and the Bonafide Playboys will be at the Carver this weekend. Alexander’s vocal style and performance are highly influenced by the jazz greats from her youth. However, she loves rearranging songs from her youth into a new genre. She will be accompanied by the Bonafide Playboys, with Utah Hamrick on bass, Jerrod Feigenbaum on trumpet and Ken Williams on guitar. (March 8 at 8 p.m.’ Carver Community Clutural Center, 226 N. The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is recognized as one of the all-time best swing orchestras in the history of Big Bands.  So many songs have been immortalized by the band and the singer Frank Sinatra. Now, the legendary Big Band, led by Jeff Bush, is touring America to honor Sinatra and the magic of that team.
With 18 musicians and singers, this tribute to Sinatra “is a memorable step back in time.”

AGT Entertainment presents a new music festival debuting this spring: Sunset: The Festival at the Espee. The inaugural showcase takes place this weekend, March 7-8, and features eight notable bands, including Spoon, Santigold, Band of Horses, and others. Sunset aims to also foster the growth of the local music scene by amplifying the talent of local artists and offering a shared platform with national acts. The San Antonio Art League and Museum is inviting you to visit on March 7. Many arts lovers are happy to see the return of the annual, On & Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour, a fun and community friendly event that allows artists and visitors to meet, enjoy art and buy/sell original art straight from the artists. (March 8-9 in the Deco District.) The Studio Tour is presented by Bihl Haus Arts, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 9. The music group, AGARITA, that owns a loft in Southtown where smaller concerts sometimes take place, has also open an art gallery at the location. The Current exhibit is “Cultural Threads- Weaving Identity” that features several San Antonio artists, including Lucia LaVilla-Havelin, Ashely Mirelez, Abby Hinojosa, Tim Olson and others. The Briscoe Western Art Museum will be open 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. March 6-17. They invite kids and families to “lasso some western fun” and watch St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Briscoe is on the River Walk, at 210- W. Market St., 78205. For info call 210-299-4499.
