The music scene is alive and well!
The always active AGARITA Chamber Players will present the concert
“Beethoven: A life in Quartets,” a journey through Beethoven’s genius across three creative eras. Agarita’s program reveals how Beethoven reinvented the string quartet, and redefined the possibilities of music itself. (Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m.; The Agarita Loft, 724 S. The San Antonio Chamber Music Society is celebrating 83 years of world-class chamber music.

Camerata San Antonio says: “Get ready to immerse yourself in an evening of pure musical passion with “Romantic Rhapsody: Liszt, Schuman & Dvorak.” This program is a complete emotional journey, from the exhilarating energy of Liszt to the profound power of Dvorak.
Camerata performs in San Antonio and Kerrville. Here’s the schedule:

It’s a free event where you can meet representatives from top colleges, universities and conservatories, learn about their music programs and discover what’s possible for your musical future. Let’s look at the theater offerings:  The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center Theater Arts program
invites you to a bold new theatrical experience -“El Pazchuco for Prez” which opens Sept. 25-26. Written and directed by Rodney Garza, “this zoot-suited satire will transport the audience into a parallel world of Los United Estates of Aztlan where “politricks” reign and laughter is the best medicine. An Evening of Poetry with Eddie Vega. Vega is San Antonio’s poet laureate. He will share his work in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The reading will be followed by a Q&A time.

Hispanic Heritage Month – Cultural Art Classes: You are invited to celebrate at San Antonio Parks & Recreation community centers with activities highlighting culturally significant arts forms across the Hispanic diaspora. These forms include Talavera pottery, papel picado and hand-made maracas.

VISUAL ARTS: 2025 Fiber Artists of San Antonio Annual Juried Exhibition – “Rooted in Fiber:
 The Natural textures of Texas”
is opening at the University of the Incarnate Word’s Semmes Gallery. The exhibition kicks off with a free public opening on Oct. 12 and runs through November 14. The exhibit showcases the work of 39 Texas artists, whose pieces celebrate the state’s stunning natural textures, landscapes and cultures. As for media, the entire range will be represented – paint, thread, yarn, clay, cloth, wood, wire and more.

Another exhibit deserves attention: “Vast and Varied” Texan Women Painters, presented by Ruiz-Healy Arts. The group exhibit includes works by Ethel Shipton, Santa Barraza, Jennifer Agricola Mojica, Eva Marengo, Bettie Ward and others. The show opened Sep. 24 at Ruiz-Healy Art, 201-A E.
