Phantom of the Alamo… News Roundup Adendum
When The Phantom of the Alamo premiered at the Magik Theater in 1996, it was a regular live stage show that live audiences enjoyed in the theater. The 2020 version, however, is a virtual theater experience. The Magik’s founder and longtime former director, Richard Rosen, decided to revive his original musical for streaming with a group of his former collaborators, including David Ankrom, Becky King, Dylan Collins, Angie Hernandez, Angela Hoeffler, Richard Solis and a few others. The show’s story is set in a future time when the Alamo is no longer the “Cradle of Texas Liberty.” In fact, it has been turned into a haunted amusement park.
You can watch the result of their efforts Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 3 at 1 and 7 p.m. on Richard Rosen & Company’s YouTube channel. Free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgre9oOfGeg

The historic missions were designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and we, collectively, as San Antonio citizens, should help preserve that heritage in small and big ways.
