The summer exhibition at the McNay Museum is a comprehensive survey of Jody Folwell’s career. The press release says: “Encounter the merging of tradition and innovation through iconic pottery in “O’ Powa O’ Meng: The Art and Legacy of Jody Folwell.” A contemporary potter from New Mexico, she is considered one of the most influential clay artists of her generation. She pushes the boundaries of form, content and design. Folwell is the first Pueblo artist to place political and social narratives on her pottery. The exhibition will be at the McNay from July 31, 2025 to Jan. 4, 2026. Sounds like something “not to miss.”

Ruiz-Healy Art is presenting “Heirloom” curated by Sarah Beauchamp and Yadira Silva.
Featured artists include Cesar A. Martinez, Ethel Shipton, Katie Pell, Chuck Ramires and others.
Throughout the show, artists map domestic objects in a way that serves as a kind of visual ethnography. (Opens June 18, 6-8 p.m.; 201-A, E Omos Dr., 78212)

Bihl Haus Arts is presenting “Print Making from San Antonio and Beyond,” highlighting diverse voices and innovative techniques of contemporary printmaking. (Closing reception is on July 12 from 1 to 4 p.m.; free; for more info call 210-339-8982 ext.1)

Luminaria’s Pop-Up Art Gallery at the Aiden is a celebration of culture, that will be open to the public June 12-July 11.; 1103 E. Commerce St., 78205. Features the works of Black artists.

The Cactus Pear Music Festival is coming up. This is a summer music fest founded by Stephanie
Saint’Ambrogio and now under the direction of Jeffrey Sykes. All concerts are free but registration is required, at two locations: Uptown Blanco Ballroom/ Blanco performing Arts in Blanco and Diane Benack Hall at the University of the Incarnate Word, in San Antonio. Agarita, San Antonio’s innovative chamber ensemble is closing its season with two powerful collaborative concerts on June 21 and 22, featuring also the GRAMMY-winning quintet Imani Winds. (June 21 at 7:30 p.m. and June 22 at 3 p.m. The first concert will be at Diane Benack Concert Hall At the University of the Incarnate Word, and the second at the Charline McCombs Empire Theater downtown. “Dragons Love Tacos,” a production of the MAGIK Theater is opening in a week. What do dragons really love? Tacos! Based on the popular book, this hilarious, fiery adventure follows a boy who learns the do’s and dont’sof feeding dragons. The literary organization, Gemini Ink, in partnership with a couple of other organizations will presents “Walk Out and Speak Up,” a free storytelling workshop for teens aged 13-19, inspired by the historic 1968 Edgewood Walkouts, a pivotal moment in San Antonio’s fight for educational equity and social justice.
