As usual, let’s start with music.

The San Antonio Chamber Music Society is bringing a famed chamber ensemble
to us: the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble which is known for its precision, warmth and expressive depth. It’s one of the world’s leading chamber orchestras.
The program includes works by Schubert, Francaix and British composer Huw Watkubs.

Symphony of the Hills

Musical Bridges Around the World is thrilled to unveil the 28th season of Russell Hill Rogers Musical Evenings, San Antonio’s signature series of world-class, admission-free concerts. And this season marks a major milestone, as MBAW expands to the newly restored Stable Hall as a second performance venue, in addition to the historic San Fernando Cathedral that has hosted its concerts so far. (The season opens Oct. 12 at Stable Hall with a performance by Kinan Azmeh, member of Silkroad.)

The San Antonio Philharmonic has announced the return of Musica Libre, its second annual free community celebration. (Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Philharmonic’s administrative offices at 1314 Guadalupe St., 78297.) Now in its second year, Musica Libre continues to showcase the orchestra’s commitment to community engagement, cultural celebration and innovative programming that brings people of all ages together. A Time to Remember: Bach to the Beatles: the Kerrville-based Symphony of the Hills kicked off its 25th season with “Bach to the Beatles,” featuring the greatest composers of all time: Mahler,
Beethoven and Mozart.

iLuminate – the Tour stops at the Majestic Theater. (Oct. 10 at 8p.m.; doors open at 7p.m.;

The renowned bassist and composer Stanley Clarke will start the season at the Carver Community Cultural Center (Oct. 11 at 8 p.m.;$30-$54 at www.thecarver.org.

Gruene Music & Wine Fest: Benefitting United Way of Comal County and presented by Gruene Hall and KNBT radio, this annual event features a dinner catered by Gristmill River Restaurant,
