The San Antonio Philharmonic is inviting music lovers to its second Classics concert of the 2025-26 season: “Beyond Borders,” conducted by music director Jeffrey Kahane. The person who will take you across those borders is Cuban-American cellist, Tommy Mesa, who will play a composition by Cuban composer Tania Leon and the world premiere of “Mirage” by Spanish composer-cellist Andrea Casarrubio. The intense Brahms: Symphony No. 1 closes this powerful program. The Orchestra San Antonio – TOSA – collaborates with local organizations such as Opera San Antonio and Ballet San Antonio, and 100A productions (theater) to create performances that are artistically accomplished and accessible to broader audiences. Let’s share some non-music developments: The Dock Space Gallery is presenting a new exhibition, “Animalia” Into the Welded and Wild by Emiliano Rebon. He is a metal artist and sculptor from Argentina, and now based here in San Antonio. Rebon uses reclaimed scrap metal
collected from across the city to create striking, life-size animal sculptures. (Opening reception is set for Nov. 8, from 6-9 p.m. as part of the Second Saturday Artwalk in the Lone Star Art District; 107 Lone Star Blvd., The exhibition is up through November, and the gallery is open by appointment. The new Museo del Westside’s Grand Opening is this Saturday Oct.18 at 10 a.m. The new museum is the realization of a dream sparked by the community’s fight to preserve its
neighborhoods. There will be musical performances, community workshops and more.

Luminaria, The Contemporary Arts Festival is taking place Oct. 18, from 6 p.m. to midnight;
at St. Paul Square. More than 200 artists will gather to showcase their finest creations at this free evening event.
