The San Antonio Chamber Music Society is bringing to town The LOTUS Saxophone Quartet
“in a genre-defying program – blending classical, jazz, and pop – that moves beyond traditional classical boundaries,” says the press release and local musicians seem eager to attend the performance. Formed in 2022, the group has stormed the classical music world, winning competitions and medals. The quartet enhances its performances with movement and visual elements, creating an immersive experience for the audience. (Nov. 16 at 3:15 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church, 319 E. The Lotus Quartet

The always active Agarita Chamber Players will have a Loft Concert titled “A la Luz de la Luna.”
The concert is co-presented by Casa de Espana in San Antonio and will feature guest pianist, Daniel del Pino, and violinist Marian Herrero. (Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. and Nov. 8 at 10:30 a.m. The Loft is at 724 S. Alamo; second floor, accessible only by stairs. The concerts are free.)

The Agarita also performs what it calls Humble Hall Concerts, which are performances performed from the back of the company’s truck in the parks or other outdoor locations.
Two such concerts are coming up: Saturday, Nov 8th at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., featuring Daniel del Pino, piano, and violinist Marian Herrero; The Nov. 8, 10:30 a.m. outdoor concert will take place at Mission Marquee Plaza,3100 Roosevelt Ave. 78214. The second Humble Hall is referred to as Beacon Hill Porchfest, at 825 W Craig,78212.

Tuesday Musical Club Memorials Programs. The non-profit, community organization, Tuesday Musical Club, annually honors members who have passed away during the previous year. The choir will sing; the String Ensemble will play Joseph Haydn’s Divertimento Trio for violin, viola and cello in D Major. The Clubhouse is at 3755 St. Mary’s St., 78212; concert is free. Avery Sunshine, described as “a Grammy-winning powerhouse,” masterfully blends R&B, jazz, gospel and soul into “a sound uniquely her own.” She will be at the Carver Community Cultural Center Nov. 8 at 8 p.m.; tickets at the Carver box office.)

As usual at this time of the year, Ballet San Antonio, will, once again, stage the traditional 
“Nutcracker,” live, at the Tobin Center. What is promised is a “spectacular production filled with dazzling dancing, a live orchestra, and the timeless story that captures hearts year after year.

Another dance event is “The Silk Road” created by the San Antonio-based Arte y Pasion. Nov. 16 is the International Day of Flamenco. The performance, will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16 at the Main Plaza, 115 N. Main Avenue. Following the performance, dancers from the community are invited to join the company dancers.

Let’s look at the theater scene. The Wonder Theater will open a production of the beloved musical “The Sound of Music” on Nov. 28th, just right for the holiday season. But they still need a couple of actors/singers to complete the cast. Open auditions are Nov. 8 and 9, for ages 18 and up. “An Enchanted Afternoon in San Antonio” 10 Minute Play Festival is presented by Seniors in Play. Over the past year, Seniors in Play playwrights have created a series of original ten-minute plays, works inspired by fairy tales, folklore or myth with a San Antonio twist. On the visual arts front, there’s always something interesting. Bihl Haus Arts is presenting “The Process of becoming a Butterfly,” an exhibition celebrating the Palacio de Palomas Westside art Collective. The group exhibit, curated by Bihl Haus Arts educator Liz Gomez, features ten multidisciplinary artists whose work embodies transformation, identity and collective healing.
